Register Now for El Camino College Compton Center Fall Semester

From staff reports

COMPTON – Anyone planning to attend El Camino College Compton Center this fall can now register in person in the Student Lounge through Sept. 5. Registration will take place Monday through Thursday from 8 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. and on Friday from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. On two Saturdays – Aug. 23 and 30 – in-person registration will be held from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Student Lounge. Counselors are available to meet with students throughout the in-person registration process.

Online and telephone registration are still available as well. Go to www.compton.edu and click on MyECC or call (310) 900-1600 to register.

A “New Student Welcome Day” will be held Wednesday, Aug. 20. New Student Welcome Day is an orientation and registration program designed to welcome students to campus and guide them into college life.

The event, being held from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., provides an opportunity for students to meet with academic counselors; register for classes; learn about student services, financial aid and campus policies; receive a student ID; meet other new students; and take a campus tour.

“We are pleased to welcome everyone to our campus,” said Compton Center Provost Lawrence Cox. “Our goal is to make students feel at home and show them first-hand all that Compton Center has to offer.”

Participants will be treated to a complimentary breakfast and lunch, and an opportunity to win prizes, including a book voucher or an iPod.

Check-in will take place from 8:30 to 9 a.m. in the gymnasium, located on the south side of campus, near Artesia Boulevard. Parking is free in Lot A.

Compton Center is open and accredited. Students are able to earn an associates degree, transfer to a four-year university or receive career training. Fees are only $20 per unit. The college catalog, class schedule and weekend college offerings are available in-person or online at www.compton.edu.

For information, contact the office of Admissions and Records at (310) 900-1600, ext. 2050.
